I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE TWO REALLY AMAZING BOSSES WHEN STARTING MY CAREER IN FASHION.

One was Stacey DiPersia when I worked at Cynthia Steffe, and the other was April Uchitel from my DVF days. I loved working with both of them as they both challenged me to get out of my comfort zone, but also appreciated my work ethic and love of business analysis - haha! Obviously the most important relationship that I have formed is the one with my business partner Alex (pictured above), he really has some great and inspired ideas. One of the biggest ones was starting Brand Assembly! We have really created a great balance, and have been able to expand on that initial idea to evolve into a multifaceted company.

With that in mind, I love the idea of having meetings just dedicated to creative ideas. We have touch bases with our team at least twice a week, in which we go through task-lists, challenges, ideas, and more. My mind moves at 1,000 miles per minute so sometimes I just share ideas that I generated in the shower, or when falling asleep, or when listening to others – I think that is the best way to develop a good idea into a great idea.

In my mind, creative collaboration is the only way to push a business to the next level. The biggest lesson I've learned as a result of this, is the art of patience. No explanation necessary! Reflecting on this further, below are a few dynamic duos who in my opinion embody this idea to the fullest extent.

- HILLARY FRANCE, CO-FOUNDER AND CEO OF BRAND ASSEMBLY

Bob Dylan & Joan Baez - I am a huge Americana/Folk music fan and Bob Dylan and Joan Baez were the biggest stars of the 60’s folk craze. Being together on the music festival trail and through the ups and downs of their relationship, they still inspired each other’s songwriting and created both together and separately, some of the most meaningful songs of that era. Their lyrics and melodies were both simplistic and extremely complicated at the same time.

Inez & Vinoodh - I just love their whole story. It is such an idealistic concept that two people could meet at school, develop their careers in the fashion world, become the dynamic work duo that they are and have a family – and above all create wonderful work that spans both the fashion and art worlds.

Tina Fey & Amy Poehler - I guess this is another idealistic relationship! Two women pursuing a career in what they love to do, finding each other through work and becoming an unstoppable force. But, at the end of the day they are extremely close friends which is incredible. Each of them can hold their own, but together they are able to command a certain presence and I believe that generates double the amount of laughs!
