The Assemblist Letter 39 - Notes On Wellness

I THINK THAT BOTH FASHION AND WELLNESS ARE ABOUT MAKING YOURSELF FEEL GOOD BOTH INSIDE AND OUT.

I would say that I have an on/off relationship with wellness. Having grown up being a competitive tennis player I was always active and eating healthy. Even early on in my work career I still made a point of working out almost daily. Over the last few years as my work has increased I definitely have lost sight of making sure to take good care of myself. Whoops! Recently though I have felt a need to make sure that my mind and body are in check so that I can tackle my day-to-day more efficiently. I love to take long walks during the weekend when I am upstate. It is so quiet and I feel like I am both working out and meditating at the same time.

It's easy to get caught up in everything that is the fashion industry as it is a pretty intense industry all around. I think it is important to have those reality checks throughout the year to make sure that you are taking care of yourself - your mind and body will last a lot longer than your career! With that said, our recent #SQries event was eye opening. David Kirsch made me realize that I could do a pretty decent workout in just under 15 minutes. I felt the burn during last week's bootcamp workout and I am still feeling it now!

I really would like to try to take a certain part of my day to meditate or just slow down and reset.  From the moment I wake up it is usually go go go… but I am realizing the importance of taking that time to focus on yourself.
