BA|lance: A New Collective of Active Brands
Introducing BA|lance: A new collective of active brands disrupting the traditional trade show experience. From January 21st – 23rd, The Square New York, will welcome 10 brands to present their seasonal collections to the active community where health (physical, sexual, mental) is the collective priority.
BA|lance is not only a space to bring together the best like-minded brands, but also to create the kind of inspiration, motivation and connection that turns a group of people into a community.
Think: chill vibes and chill people.
You can expect a fresh, mellow space, clean, healthy snacks, daily guided meditations and more in an environment built to make everyone feel at ease. Scroll down to get to know a few of the most coveted active brand founders, what balance means to them, and all the details you need about BA|lance.
WHAT DOES BALANCE MEAN TO YOU?
Andrea Weinberg, Founder + CEO of ANDI: The alignment of one’s time and efforts with one’s values.
Eleanor Haycock, Founder of Year of Ours: Balance is when you feel at ease with all.
Andrea Tiefencach, Global Sales Director of MICHI: To me, balance is the understanding that you can’t live life in one extreme and that a healthy life needs to be made up of opposites that complement, interrelate and interconnect.
WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO WELLNESS ACTIVITY OR PRODUCT?
Andrea W: I practice Vedic meditation and try to eat a lot of raw veggies.
Eleanor: Sleep! I really believe sleep can fix and help everything. Water would be second.
Andrea T: Yoga, Dance and Mediation are my go-to wellness activities. I love mind-body-spirit activities that I can progress at. Meditating even for 5 minutes a day to clear my mind helps give me the right mindset to stay calm, focused, clear headed and keep my creative energy flowing.
IF SOMEONE HASN’T YET DISCOVERED YOUR BRAND/LINE, WHAT ITEM SHOULD THEY TRY FIRST?
Andrea W: The ANDI! It is a staple for anyone making an effort to live their life to the fullest.
Eleanor: Our lace up Football Legging or Active Rib Bralette and Biker Short. All of them have been in the line since we started and are still top sellers!
Andrea T: MICHI Leggings! When you put them on you feel empowered; full of confidence, motivation and energy.
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION OR A-HA MOMENT FOR THE CREATION OF YOUR BRAND?
Andrea W: My original idea was a waterproof cover for another bag. The a-ha moment was when I had my first prototype and realized that I wanted a bag that I didn’t have to worry about in the first place (stylish, but also durable and comfortable with multiple ways to wear).
Eleanor: Never being able to find leggings that I loved. Either the style and/or the ability to stay up with running.
Andrea T: In early 2010 I was working on the Design Team at RLX Ralph Lauren in NYC and hitting the gym almost every day. I was not excited about activewear in the market because I had not yet come across a brand that authentically blended fashion with performance. I wanted something more fashion forward and more functional; something that could cross over from gym to street or I could wear for opposite workouts such as yoga and street dance. I came up with the concept of an elevated, modern, sophisticated yet high performance activewear brand to empower women.
