Meghan Fabulous of BOHEME

Inspired by the relaxed glamour of the 1970s and the natural world around us, Meghan Fabulous designs with coolness and confidence in mind. And with a name like Meghan Fabulous, you know what she creates is going to be good.

Learning how to sew as a child gave Meghan the ability to express herself through her clothing, and the empowerment that came with that self-expression stuck with her. As a designer, she’s mastered a range of styles, all of which help women feel their best. She has two lines, Meghan Fabulous and BOHEME Los Angeles. The Meghan Fabulous line features flowy gowns in saturated colors and fun prints, and BOHEME is where Meghan really allows her designing to break out of the mold. Uniquely embroidered tunics and kimonos of mix-and-match patterns are the pinnacle of Meghan’s designing visions; the pieces are hand-tailored and limited edition. By combining so many of her varied influences into laid-back, beautiful pieces, BOHEME captures the essence of Meghan Fabulous.

DRAWING INSPIRATION: We’re feeling ready to create.

NAME: Meghan Fabulous

CITY: Downtown Los Angeles

AN ESSENTIAL PART OF YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS: Nature and music is the major inspiration behind every garment that I design ‒ from the colors and patterns, to the drape and hand of the fabrics ‒ I always am absorbing all of nature and the sounds around me and how it makes me feel. I love butterflies, their beauty and use them alot in my prints... and their wings inspire "sleeve drama." I absolutely love sailing ‒ it's magical!! The colors of the water, the sound and motion of the ocean, and extraordinary sea life have really added a new influence to my designs. I really want my customers to also be inspired when they wear my clothes and can see and feel where my creativity stems from.

FAVORITE PIECE FROM THE BOHEME COLLECTION: The kimono is my spirit garment ‒ I love how it's so versatile, comfortable and every body shape can wear it. Traditional kimonos come in so many vibrant patterns that inspire the prints that I design. My ultimate dream is for it to be customary for everyone to wear a kimono in their daily life!! I designed a kimono called "The Dark Star Kimono" (named after a Grateful Dead song) and it is the ultimate luxurious statement making kimono! It's crafted out of an extravagant silk crepe de chine fabric with a full silk habotai lining. The print is inspired by a vintage kimono I purchased in Kyoto, Japan about 10 years ago at a Kimono Flea Market (my other happiest place on earth!). The back has a large evil eye that is embellished with hundreds of mirrors, glass beads, sequins and vintage crystals with a matching beaded evil eye on the left chest. It is a statement piece for the Goddess who appreciates exquisite details and only the finest things in life.
LOVE OR HATE - THE HOLIDAY SEASON: Honestly speaking, I don't decorate my house or put up a Christmas tree, but I do really appreciate what the holidays symbolize and love getting together with family and friends that I wouldn't otherwise see on a regular basis. I live for all the parties and junk food/holiday cocktails!! I love how festive everyone is and women aren't afraid to wear sparkles!! I wear glitter all year round, but most women have that one shiny top in their closet that only comes out around the holiday time. I love seeing mass sparkle!! I also love how the holidays make people in a happier mood and are more festive (well, most people).
