Luiny Rivera was studying to be a teacher when she began teaching herself to design jewelry. We like this lesson plan much better.
The native Puerto Rican moved to New York to start her namesake brand, Luiny, in 2003; since then, she has dedicated herself to designing pieces that feel organic, timeless, sculptural, and true to her personal style. As someone who naturally surrounds herself with beauty and art (check out her IG for all the good inspiration), maintaining control over the aesthetic of her brand is important to Luiny, and she does the majority of the photography and art direction. Her hard work has paid off: her pieces were worn during Mara Hoffman’s 2014 New York Fashion Week show, and in the years since she’s grown the brand and sharpened her vision. Using bright colors and vintage design elements, we love how Luiny pieces feel playful and elevated at the same time.
